Hello Mariners,
The 1791 ship has been rechartered for this year, however there are some changes in the participation of the Mathews Maritime Foundation . MMF is starting a new program for 12-20 year olds to be Mariners in a new program called “On the Water”.
The waters surrounding Mathews County and the rest of Middle Peninsula are an incredible source of maritime heritage. So we would like to invite kids to participate in activities on the water. We will be offering day sailing trips on our 32 ft. sailing vessel “Intrique” and resources are available to to go on motored boats for scenic and fishing adventures. In addition, we have access to kayaks for close to shore exploration. We are inviting all who live in the Middle Peninsula to participate. We anticipate visits to our local museums to enhance our knowledge of the past.
Participants: You will need to fill out an application with parental consent and a medical history. Participation is up to you, you may suggest events you would like to have, and choose what scheduled events are available.
